US: MoU between Ethiopia and the Somaliland administration

WASHINGTON (SD) -The United States government said that it is working with organizations and partner countries to push back on the recent agreement between the government of Ethiopia and the Somaliland administration.

John Kirby director of strategic communications for the US National Security Council, pointed out that they have repeatedly said that the United States government supports the independence and territorial integrity of Somalia and should be respected.

The director said that the MoU recently inked by The Ethiopian Government and the Somaliland administration threatens to disrupt the fight that Somalis, Africans, regional and international partners, including the US, are waging against Al-Shabab

Countries and international organizations have openly called for respecting the independence and sovereignty of Somalia.
