SNA and AS forces clash in Lower Juba region

Kismayo November 03, 2023 (SD) – The special forces of the Somali National Army known as DANAB have carried out planned operations in districts within the Lower Juba region. It is reported that they were targeting members of the Al-Shabaab group.

These operations were conducted by the 162nd Battalion of DANAB Special Forces in various districts such as Yaaq-Xaluul, Qodqod, Guduloow, and Berhane, all located in the Lower Juba region.
The military leaders who oversaw these operations stated that the targeted areas were known to have Al-Shabaab strongholds, and some of them had been launching planned attacks.

Colonel Dheeg Ahmed, the commander of the 162nd Battalion of DANAB, informed the media that their forces had succeeded in dismantling Al-Shabaab bases and areas that had been causing harm to the local population.

In his statement, he emphasized that the special forces of the Somali National Army will continue to lead operations against Al-Shabaab in the Jubaland region, to liberate the Jubaland districts from the influence of Al-Shabaab. These recent operations are part of the ongoing efforts to root out Al-Shabaab and improve the security situation in the region.
