Al Shabaab attacks military barracks in Hiiraan

Baladweyne April 26, 2023 (QJ) – Fighting erupted this morning in the town of Dacaarow, one of the villages in the district of Halgan in the Hiiraan region, between the Somali government forces and Al-Shabaab militants.

The fighting began after Al-Shabaab militants attacked government forces base in the village of Dacaarow, located in the northern part of the Halgan district in the Hiiraan region.

The attack reportedly lasted for about 30 minutes, and both sides reportedly used various types of weapons during the fight, according to eyewitnesses from the area. There is no information on the exact number of casualties on either side, and there is no official statement released yet regarding the fighting.

Al-Shabaab has frequently attacked various towns in the eastern Hiiraan region, and they have launched attacks on government and military installations in the past. These attacks often result in civilian casualties and displacement of local populations.
