President Hassan says South West liberation next

Baidoa January 22, 2023 (QJ) – President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, visited the Training Center of the 60th Battalion of the Somali National Army in Baydhabo and addressed the 15th graduating class of the school.

The President urged the soldiers to uphold the principles of military conduct and to prioritize the safety, dignity and lives of the Somali citizens, warning that there will be no tolerance for any violations of the rights of the citizens by those who are supposed to protect them.

He also emphasized that the second phase of liberating the remaining areas under Militant control will start in the South-West region and called on the administration, society, and security forces in that region to speed up the preparations for the liberation operation.

In the recent days, the President has been conducting several meetings in Baydhabo, most of which focused on reconciliation and intensifying the operations against Al-Shabaab.
