Edgware teenager creates exhibition about Somali history

A teenager has helped make history by creating an exhibition about the Somali community in north London.

Nikolett Peteri, who lives in Edgware, spent six weeks at a workshop to prepare her for the mammoth task of interviewing Somali’s living in the borough of Brent.

Their work has now been displayed in an exhibition, which includes photographs and videos.

Nikolett, who is originally from Hungary and had to learn English as a second language, said: “Working on this project, talking to other people who have learned English as an adult, I felt quite relaxed and it has helped me improve my spoken English as well as my writing. “It was very enjoyable to speak to people from different backgrounds and ask them questions about their history. It’s been such a great experience for me, I’ve really enjoyed it.”
