Al-Shabaab Executes Two Men in Barawe Accused of Spying

Al-Shabaab militants in Barawe on Sunday (July 13th) publicly executed two Somali men accused of spying for the Somali government, Hiiraan Online reported.

An al-Shabaab judge found both men — Said Hussein Ali, 26, and Abdi Hassan Hussein, 19 — guilty of spying for the Somali government, including for the Somali National Intelligence and Security Agency, according to Somalia’s Garowe Online.

The men reportedly confessed to their crimes and were then executed in front of hundreds of local residents.

In March, al-Shabaab executed six men also for allegedly spying for the Somali government and foreign intelligence agencies.

Al-Shabaab representative in Lower Shabelle region Abu Abdalle said the group would act decisively if they found anyone guilty of spying for their enemies.
