Al-Shabaab Invade Amisom Military Base in Afmadow

A military base of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) and Somali National Army in Afmadow district of Middle Jubba region was attacked last night, by insurgents of the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabaab terrorist group.

The fierce violent confrontation went on for at least a few hours, after the attack was provoked by the insurgents who invaded the military base in Afmadow late last night.

The precise numbers of fatalities are unclear although witnesses have reported to Shabelle that they fear casualties.

Somali Federal Government officials nor Al-Shabaab have commented regarding the physical conflict last night.
