Somaliland: Presidency Minister Inspects Work on Berbera-Laforug Road

Hargeisa, 12 Feb 2014 (SDN) –Leading a team of officials and Journalists, Presidency Minister Hirsi Ali Haji Hassan on Wednesday undertook inspection to ongoing road construction in Hargeisa-Berbera road to take stock of the progress as well as to monitor the progress of the blacktopping and drainage construction work on the Laforuug to Berbera road.

Talking to media persons after the inspection, Minister Hirsi said that he had come to assess the progress of the construction work and to inspect the areas damaged by floods last year.

Minister Hirsi also informed that the rehabilitation work will be continued until the road reaches Sheikh District in Sahil region. Presidency minister said that the construction equipment of Buroa-Erigavo road will arrive in the country soon.

The deplorable nature of the Hargeisa-Berbera road has become a major concern to motorists.

During the inspection, Minister Hirsi was accompanied by the director of Somaliland Road Authority (SRA), Executive Engineer of Hargeisa-Berbera road and European Union roads advisor.

Mention may be made here that the minister has been carrying out ongoing work inspections persistently along with Somaliland Road Authority officials to insure that quality is not compromised.
