Moral reasoning can be defined as being the process in which an individual tries to determine the difference between what is right and what is wrong in a personal situation by using logic. This is an important and often daily process that people use in an attempt to do the right thing. Every day for instance, people are faced with the dilemma of whether or not to lie in a given situation. People make this decision by reasoning the morality of the action and weighing that against its consequences. Although all moral choice can be seen as personal choice, some choices can be seen as an economic choice, or an ethical choice described by some ethical code or regulated by ethical relationship with others.  

 

 

There are four components of moral behavior. The first of these is moral sensitivity, which is “the ability to see an ethical dilemma, including how our actions will affect others. The second is moral judgment, which is “the ability to reason correctly about what ‘ought’ to be done in a specific situation. The third is moral motivation, which is “a personal commitment to moral action, accepting responsibility for the outcome. The fourth and final component of moral behavior is moral character, which is a “courageous persistence in spite of fatigue or temptations to take the easy way out.

 

 

Distinctions between theories of moral reasoning can be accounted for by evaluating inferences which tend to be either deductive or inductive based on a given set of premises. Deductive inference reaches a conclusion that is true based on whether a given a set of premises preceding the conclusion are also true, whereas, inductive inference goes beyond information given in a set of premises to base the conclusion on provoked reflection.Accepted theory that provides the basis for empirical evidence on the influence of human decision making on ethical behavior, moral development consists of the growth of less egocentric and more impartial modes of reasoning on more complicated matters.

Our sense or right and wrong can influence our feelings of altruism or prejudice, can affect in our daily lives and relationships with friends or at work, and can even (although perhaps not often enough) have a bearing on social policy. One important social question is how we come to behave in moral (or immoral) ways. Obviously, part of this question depends on how attitudes or reasoning connect with moral behavior and action.


 

Act in a way that focuses on other people. Practice tolerance during difficult conversations. Be accepting of other people’s unique personalities, religions or races. Respect other people’s opinions and rights. Be empathetic to personal feelings and thoughts of others. Make decisions based on heart, mind and gut. If you have a feeling something isn’t right, it probably isn’t. Go with what you’ve learned about making ethical and moral decisions and don’t let others sway you.

 

 

 

Tribal organization predominated world-wide until the industrial revolution where it was replaced in some countries by bureaucratic organization. Tribal organization is founded on loyalty to specific persons, while bureaucratic organization like democracies or republics is based on loyalty to abstract principles, notably the law and a central government. Most modern monarchies, particularly in the West, now share power with a bureaucratic system. Kinsmen are obliged to help each other out, whereas bureaucrats have committed themselves to following identical procedures and principles no matter with whom they are dealing.

 

According to some a tribal groups, it is appropriate to treat different people differently; killing someone outside of the tribe is seen as morally acceptable. Such differential treatment is not seen as unjust but is an indication of loyalty and solidarity to one’s tribe. Nepotism or favoritism towards members of the group is expected.  if anyone of their tribe looks for work, then their  family, tribe or clan would always come first.This is in direct opposition to a bureaucratic way of thinking; everybody is to be treated according to identical rules and regulations. These two systems are difficult to reconcile as they represent opposing moralities.Tribal loyalty is faithfulness or a devotion to person, group or tribe and this Philosophers disagree with the democratic value and human cooperation towards the common goal.
