Somaliland: Radio BAR KULAN Reporter Arrested in Las Anod

Las Anod, 3 Jan 2014 (SDN) — A journalist working as a reporter for Former UN Funded Radio in Las Anod has been arrested in Las Anod on Friday. The Police arrested Feysal Jama Aden, Radio Bar-kulan reporter in Las’anod, during violent protest in the city. Witnesses said the journalist was trying to take photos and it is not clear the reason behind his arrest.

Bar-kulan Director Mohamed Dahir Farah condemned the arrest and called on Somaliland administration to release him immediately.

National Union of Somali Journalists have also condemned the arrest of the journalist.

It is not yet clear the reason behind Feysal’s arrest and Somaliland Police did not comment on the issue.

Radio BAR KULAN is a Somali speaking radio station in Nairobi which was established by the United Nations and is currently administered by AMISOM.
