1 Killed In Buroa Protests over Police Chief Sacking

Buroa, 23 Dec 2013 (SDN) -One person died and two others injured Sunday in Buroa, the capital of Togdher region as protests over the sacking of Togdher region police chief turned violent, medics and witnesses said.

Hundreds of demonstrators took to the streets of Buroa to protest the sacking of Colonel Ahmed Hassan Ilkacase yesterday.

Togdher region police chief was sacked yesterday with immediate effect and Salal police chief was named for his replacement.

It is not yet known the reasons behind the sacking of the long serving colonel.
