President Silanyo Extends the Term of the Political Parties Registration and Verification Committee

Hargeisa, October 15, 2013(SDN) -Somaliland President Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud Silanyo has today extended the term of the national political parties registration and verification committee (NPPR&VC) by an extra two years. The committee formed on October 04th, 2011, and headed by Mr. Abdirizak Jama Omar known as Iyale was to register and verify political parties.

A presidential decree # JSL/M/XERM/249-1820/062013 released on the 14th October by presidential spokesman Ahmed Sulaiman Dhuhul read, “the head of state in conformity with section 6, Article 3 of the political parties/associations act 14/2011., and in conformity with the amendment of section 6, Article 3 of the political parties/associations act 14/2011 which states that the tenure of the committee is two years and their tenure expired on October 04 2013.

In view of section 6, Article 3 of the political parties/associations act 14/2011 which gives the president the right to extend the committee’s tenure and in view of the importance political parties registration and verification committee have to their obliged duties hereby announce that the tenure of the committee will be extended another term of two years starting from October 05, 2013”.
