Wildlife flee to Somalia
Wildlife have started “fleeing” to Somalia a week after Operation Linda Boni was launched.
The animals are said to move further into Somalia with each advancement of troops into Boni Forest.
“We have received reports that many of our wildlife have been spotted on the other side of the forest. We are concerned we might lose the entire population,” Shee Bwana, Lamu County Wildlife Conservation Committee chair, said.
A conservancy created by the Boni community fours years ago to protect wildlife has been stalled due to constant terror threats.
