Where somaliland stands now?
It is been three years, since I wrote an article to the somaliland media, and the reason that it took me so long to write an article is because when somaliland face a political dilemma before this new administration, including closing of house of parliament, Calling for impeachment of the president at that time and also unsure that the election is gone happen at that moment and also giving time to this new administration to make an evaluation if they are better than the former administration led by dahir rayale and this is the reason that I have kept silent.
To day i believe it’s the time to break my silence and ask ourselves where are we ,where somaliland stands now in terms of peace and stability. Economically. Strategy on recognition. and Somaliland sovereignty.
peace and stability
I start my speech on peace and stability, and this is because everything else is lagging behind peace and stability. We cannot talk about economic development if we have not goth peace and stability there fore i am giving this article the first priority.
As we had a lot of conflict in the past once we fought against a former brutal regime siyad bare and also once we had a conflict among us in a civil war which we solved it trough dialogue.
all of that war experience gave us the opportunity to solve any misunderstanding, which take part in the future.
We have an excellent record of peace and stability most of our country at the moment, but we still goth some concern of eastern part of the country (sool region) and I belief we will solve this problem through dialogue and trust of each other.
they both the incumbent administration and the former administration protected well our peace and
stability but during the transition of power to the new administration, we have had several organized assasination in lasanod which claimed by scc
but at this point the situation of lasanod is getting better after a political dialogue between the government and SSC and we as a citizens hope that we will solve our problem through dialogue.
justice and judiciary system.
Peace is not the absence of war it’s the presence of justice there fore if we have not goth justice our peace will become weak, and it will collapse any time soon.
Neither previous administration nor the current administration did not take any substantial step forward towards the improvement of justice.
We were looking forward to this new administration to make an essential move towards a justice and judiciary system, but it seems that it is not going to happen, and the consequences will have a bad impact of our peace process.
It is clear as a day that our justice and judiciary system is in worst conditions there fore its necessary to make a change, and we are calling on the government to act quickly and strongly to reform the judiciary system and also creating an independent monitoring board to make sure that the reform is functioning properly, and justice has been done
injustice anywhere is a threat to justice of anywhere there fore the government must act quickly strongly to make substantial change before it is too late.
Justice is a very important principle, with out true justice, only corruption shall prevail, and when corruption prevails then everything begins to fall apart. One can say that having true justice is the true backbone or foundation of anything that shall lead to success, whether this is specifically applied to a person, or a community in general.
So what does the Quran have to say about justice? The Quran is very clear on the principle of justice, emphasizing that true justice must be carried correctly; the Quran makes this point crystal clear when it teaches the following:
“ O you who believe! Stand out firmly for justice, as witnesses to Allah, even if it be against yourselves, your parents, and your relatives, or whether it is against the rich or the poor…” (Quran 4:135)
So you must stand up for justice no matter what, even it if against your parents, and even if it against the rich and powerful. How many times have we seen throughout history that when it often came to the upper class of society they would often be except and a blind eye would be turned to them? The Quran commands the Muslims to disregard this method and judge everyone equally, whether they are rich and powerful, whether they are your family or not, and even if it is against your own self!
– On the Economy
I am not writing an economic program. Neither am i writing a party platform. this is a statement of principle by one person. therefore, much will not be said here, except a few points that touch on the principal aspect. There was a prevalent opinion, in the early days of independence, in many African countries that the state should take a leading role in the economy, not only in planning and guidance but in directly productive activities as well but we found our selves midst of economic crisis.
Actually we have a serious problem in our economy ,lack of a proper financial institution, and this will result in a poverty trap
we will not make economic growth, and people will not make savings their fore our economy will be an uncertain position where the government can no longer control it.
having not a financial institution resulted ineffective of central bank and reliable of inflation which may occur any time there fore somaliland peaple will pay the price and will realize that their government let them down.
What needs to be done now
-Somaliland peaple must stick to their independence or sovereignty
-somaliland people should not fear to reunite somalia because we have already made our decision
-Somalia has no choice but to accept somaliland independence and then we will have relationship between the two countries
-It is been two decades, since we have declared somaliland independence, and we have not goth any recognition yet from international community there fore I believe It is time to change our strategy towards recognition because some how it seems that this policy is not working.
