UNRWA requested to see the evidence of Israeli allegations

NY November 04, 2024(QJ)-Israel has officially notified the United Nations that it has terminated the agreement regulating its relationship with the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) that has been in place since 1967.

Israeli Foreign Minister Israel Katz ordered his ministry to inform the UN of the termination. Katz stated that the United Nations had been presented with “countless pieces of evidence” showing that Hamas operatives work for UNRWA and that UNRWA facilities are being used for terrorist purposes, yet no action has been taken on these issues.

In response, UNRWA’s Director of Communications Juliette Touma said that aside from an investigation by the UN’s oversight office, UNRWA had received only one formal accusation from Israeli authorities, alleging that 100 of its staff members were affiliated with Palestinian armed groups.

When UNRWA requested to see the evidence and sought additional information and cooperation from Israel regarding the allegations, they received no response, she stated.
