Somaliland:Ethiopian Secret Agent killed in Hargeisa

HARGEISA-— Somaliland’s Deputy Security Minister Hon. Mohamed Musa Dirie has confirmed that an Ethiopian secret agent officer  has been assassinated in Hargeisa couple of days ago but revealed that the government has launched an investigation into the circumstances regarding the death of the agent.

The government of Somaliland has not yet confirmed whether the murdered officer was killed by Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF). The officer has been killed in the south of capital but details are sketchy over who is responsible for the assassination. Speaking of this issue, the assistant minister has stated that thorough investigations are underway in Hargeisa.

Mr. Mohamed has added that number of prime suspected are under police custody in connection of the murder. He went on to say that the apprehended suspects are awaiting the case to concluded and those who are proved to be behind the carrying out of the killing will soon face the justice. Once asked that how it is possible for aliens to carry out such killings in Somaliland, the minister has responded by saying that it happens in other countries in the world.

The minister has said that he did not rule out the possibility that Al Shabab or ONLF might have carried out the killing and went on to say that they commit such crimes in Addis Ababa or in New York. A high delegation from Somali regional administration are in Somaliland attending the Fish festival that was held in Hargeisa.
