Somaliland Starts Registering Expats and National Workers
Hargeisa, Aug 2, 2013 (SDN) —Somaliland Ministry of Labor and Social affairs has announced on Wednesday that it will begin the registration of both foreign and national employees that work in all regions of the country. According to press statement issued by the Director General of the labor ministry Mr. Mohamoud Muse Haji ABdi “Galaydh” stated that the main reason behind conducting the registration is to fid out genuine ststistics of employees working in every workplace across the nation. The areas were registration of employees will focus on are international organizations, business firms, hospitals, educational centers and local non-governmental organizations.
The press statement stated that the reason behind the registration is to assess the rate of employment and job creation in the country in order to take the right steps and measures.
In the press, it has not been stated when the registration of both foreign and nationals will begin but the labor ministry informs all workplaces to register their employees as soon as possible.
The will be supervisors that will visit every workplace and ministry o labor informs to cooperate with them in order to execute their duties.
Somaliland has seen wave of young people risking their lives by crossing the Sahara desert in order to reach the distant shores of Europe.
In other words, there is rampant unemployment in country that obliged many young people to leave the country seeking better life and employment opportunities.
