Somaliland: Security forces on high alert to avert terror attacks
Hargeisa, July 28, 2013 (SDN) —Somaliland Security forces especially anti-terror squad known as Rapid Reaction Unit (RRU) have been put on high alert in country following warnings that Al shabab militant might carry out possible attacks similar to Saturday’s attacks of Turkish employee residence in Mogadishu which claimed the lives of three people.
Official sources said heavy contingents of police’s anti-terror squad had been deployed at all important buildings, such as foreign agencies residence and University of Hargeisa.
They said intelligence agencies had warned of risks of possible attacks by Al shabab militants.
In Hargeisa, the security forces had ordered that the Students as well as the entire management of Hargeisa University should leave the compound. Similarly large security personnel have been deployed in Hargeisa major streets.
Al-Shabab, has increased this month its terror campaign by launching several suicide attacks in Mogadishu.
