Somaliland: President Appoints National Commission on Inflation

HARGEISA– Somaliland President His Excellency Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud Silanyo has issued a presidential decree in which he names a commission consisting of five members whose task is to carry out an investigation over the inflation which impacted the country. The new commission is headed by Somaliland’s deputy president Hon. Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismael Saylici.

Mission

Ladies and Gentlemen,

One of the main responsibilities of the government on economy is to keep an eye on the rate of Somaliland Shillings compared to other currencies. It is the duty of the government to know the rise and fall of the rate of the exchange of Somaliland shillings.

A severe inflation exists in Somaliland which impacted negatively the lives of Somaliland citizens.

It is quite important for investigating deep down the inflation in the country whereby gathering information begins which will be the basis for a decision to be made.

The president has informed the committee to gather information on the prevalent inflation in the country.
