Somaliland: Ministry of Sports Acquires New Premises

Hargeisa, 21 Feb 2014 (SDN) – Amid cheers and applause from the gathered officials and guests, Somaliland president Ahmed Mohamed Mohamoud “Silanyo” has on Thursday officially opened the new administrative building of the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Culture.
Under the storm of applause of those present at the ceremony, President Silanyo cut the symbolic ribbon for the government financed two-storey building which will enable the facilitation of better delivery of services.
President Silanyo speaking at the opening ceremony stressed the commitment of his government to boost the development of Somaliland sports and youth.
The Director General of the Ministry of Sports, Youth and Culture who also spoke at the ceremony said that the ministry was desperately in need of new building and will greatly benefit the ministry by facilitating their day-to-day activities.
The Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs speaking at the ceremony said, “I do hereby thank his Excellency President Ahmed Mohamed Mahmoud (Silanyo) for his never ending support to the youth of this country of whom the future lies with”,
The Sports Minister added that the youth umbrella (SONYO) plays an important role in alleviating the status of the youth in the country such the economic enablement of the youth and which role the Somaliland National Youth Organization (SONYO Umbrella) in mobilizing and empowering young people in Somaliland.
The ceremony was attended by members of the cabinet, Chairperson and deputies of the National Youth Organization (SONYO), Police Commissioner, and other guests.
