Somaliland: Minister of Finance holds talks with DFID officials

HARGESIA-Finance Minister Ms. Zamzam Abdi Adan has held talks with The Department for International Development (DFID) officials yesterday.

She has told that the discussions were aimed at restructuring Somaliland’s tax collection system which the ministry of treasury is in charge of.

Ms. Zamzam, finance minister has further said that laws pertaining to the tax collection restructuring have been submitted to the parliament.

The minister of finance was accompanied by foreign affairs minister, civil aviation minister and the director general of the finance minister were in attendance during the discussion with DFID officials.

Ms. Zamzam has stated that the mian objective behind the meeting was that the DFID officials should know more on the tax collection in Somaliland.

She added that the gist is to modernize the way taxes are collected and to improve the work of the customs in Somaliland.
