Somaliland: House of Elders Passes Police Bill No.63/2013

Hargeisa, Oct 30, 2013 (SDN)-Somaliland’s House of Elders has on Tuesday unanimously passed Police bill No.63/2013, after making few amendments to the bill.  Fifty two MP’s have attended the session chaired by Chairman Sulaiman Mohamoud Adam and once the voting commenced the Police bill No.63/2013 passed with forty five votes in favor to 4 against, with 2 refrains and the chairman did not cast his vote as the majority of house endorsed the bill. The police bill took and long and heated debates in the house where some legislators called for a separation between the civilian officers from the interior ministry and the police command.

On October 05 the House of Representatives passed the bill with majority vote.
