Somaliland: Ethiopian Forces Arrest APLF members in Aw Barre

JIGJIGA- The Ethiopian Federal Forces particularly the forces for Somali regional administration have captured today members of Awdal People’s Liberation Front (APLF) which is a rebellious insurgency against Somaliland which Sultan Wabar announced.

Reports coming from Aw Barre indicate that Ethiopian Forces have raided the bases of APLF which lies in Aw Barre vicinity and threw them to jail.

Somaliland government accuses APLF of being behind the raid to the Awdal regional governor residence which left behind the death of two security forces and two others sustained injuries.

After the attack was carried out that both governments started to cooperate and take measures to contain the shoot and run operations that APLF carry out in Awdal region.

It is not yet clear if Ethiopia will extradite the APLF members and hand them over to Somaliland.

Somaliland and Ethiopia signed a security pact in Diri Dawa recently and agreed that both countries should not give a room to insurgency against both states.
