Somaliland: Dispute breaks out within Justice and Welfare party (UCID)

HARGEISA– Presidential candidate and running mate for Justice and Development party have submitted a complaint case to the country’s Supreme court.

The two contenders have accused Justice and Welfare party chairman, Faisal Ali Warabe of violating the party’s laws.

It is reported that the Constitutional court has set a fixed date to hold the hearing of the case.

Reports indicate that Mr. Faisal has held talks with allied presidential contenders who defected from ruling Kulmiye party.

It is said that UCID’s chairman has agreed with the defected Kulmiye wing to pay much money when it comes to joining the party and getting the party’s nomination as the presidential contenders who will contest the forthcoming 2017 presidential and parliamentary elections.

Former Presidential affairs minister, Hirsi Ali Hasan met with Faisal Ali Warabe and talked issues of joining UCID party.

It is reported that Justice and Welfare party leader, Faisal met with Prof. Ahmed Ismael Samatar in September in which he promised for him that he will be the party’s running mate.

The fallout between UCID’s presidential contestants and their leader comes traded accusations that he will not vote for them.

Mr. Faisal has attacked Awdal youth during speech he delivered and majority of those who hail from Awdal were disappointed with the statement made by UCID’s leader.

Mr. Jamal Ali Husein and Abdirashid Hasan Matan have apologized the statement  from UCID’s Chairman.

Al though the presidential contestants and Mr. Faisal have told that they have resolved their differences through the phone.

Justice and Welfare party (UCID) faced the same scenario in which it split into two camps although it was later settled the dispute by the Supreme court.
