Somaliland Civil Aviation Minister meets Ethiopian counterpart (Photos)
Addis Ababa, Jun 23, 2013 (SDN) ––Somaliland’s Minister of civil Aviation and Air Transport, Mr. Mohamoud Hashi Abdi has arrived Ethiopian capital this week. Upon arrival the minister was received by his Ethiopian counterpart, Mr. Gitaju Migiste. During his stay in Addis Ababa aviation minister Mr. Mohamoud met with Ethiopia’s State Minister for Transportation and Telecommunication Mr. Gitaju Migiste. The two Ministers discussed various civil aviation issues and the way forward, with the view to strengthen bilateral ties. Aviation Minister, Mr. Mohamoud Hashi also met with senior officials of Ethiopian Airlines and their discussion focused on expanding the airlines daily flights to Somaliland. Ethiopia’s Airlines, the fastest growing airline in Africa launched daily flights to Berbera, the port city of Somaliland last year.
Somaliland’s Aviation Minister raised with Ethiopian Airline officials to find solution to complaints that arise regarding the luggage carried by Somaliland Diasporas that are returning to their homeland in the summer and the flights to the country that the officials may delay it.
On the other hand, Somaliland Aviation Minister Mr. Mohamoud Hashi also met with senior officials of UK embassy based in Addis Ababa, the Ethiopian capital city and discussed the projects that the UK is implementing in Somaliland Ministry of Aviation.
The minister also raised with UK government over the conflict that arosed between the UN and Somaliland over the airspace control and further explained Somaliland’s stance over the UN airspace control of Somalia and Somaliland.
