Somalia: Lone Soldier Guns Down Bosaso Airport Security Chief

BOSASO-— Bosaso Airport security chief Col. Hasan Shire Amaan has been shot dead on Monday by one of the security soldiers in the airport. The shooting occurred at the main gate of the airport.  The security officer who carried out the shooting has fled from scene and remains at large. He was among the security staff of the airport but he was recently axed from work.

At least seven other soldiers were at the scene of the shooting but let alone capture the culprit but allowed him to escape. All of the soldiers on duty during the shooting are under police custody and investigations are underway to discover the motive behind the killing of the security chief of Bosaso airport. The late Col. Hasan Shire did not have security guards and used to stroll in Bosaso without being escorted be guards.

Man hunt operation is underway in Bosaso and vehicles are being under vetting by police in Bosaso. Police are behind the heels of the perpetrator of the murder. The late Col. Hasan Shire was appointed by the former deceased Puntland President in 2003.
