Prior speak the president’s  speech; I would like to comment about the quality of his speeches including the one for the United Nations 69th session in the current year 2014.

My purpose of the present research is to examine the relation between speech quality and speech intelligibility. Speech quality measurements were made using continuous discourse and a category rating procedure for the following dimensions: intelligibility, pleasantness, loudness, effort, and total impression.

Somali president has a period of public, experiences and a deep well charisma and high record of high favourability ratings. Oral communication is the oldest and most widely used medium of communication. It can take place in different forms and speech is one of them. Speech is generally, the most effective medium of delivering message in meeting, seminar, conference etc. Speech refers to delivering message through words of mouth or spoken words in front of audience gathered in a meeting, seminar or conference. Through speech, the speaker can present his opinions and thoughts on any matter to a large number of audiences at a time. A speech is a highly structured form of address in which a speaker addresses an audience gathered to hear a message. Speech is an effective means of oral communication. It is delivered in front of a large gathering. Therefore, speech serves as an important medium of presenting information in meetings, political or business gatherings. However, a speech becomes effective when it fulfils the following features: Speech is an effective means of oral communication. It is delivered in front of a large gathering. 1. Clarity. Clarity is an essential feature of a good speech. Speech should be clear and unambiguous so that the audience can understand it easily. If it is not clear enough to express its meaning to the audience, it will become ineffective.

Many people fear speaking in front of other people. They may get nervous, start shaking and forget what they were going to say. Often the fear comes from the person believing he’s not a good public speaker and that people will think he has nothing valuable to say. Learning the characteristics of a good speech helps in crafting a better speech, which diminishes the fears associated with public speaking. Your speech should be easy to follow. It should have clear points that transition from one to the next.Body language can become distracting during a speech. Because speakers are often nervous, many scratch their heads multiple times, rock back and forth on their heels and clasp their hands together and then separate them repeatedly. However, body language can be used to your advantage. Considering his last speeches, the president even has mere morals and simple techniques to make his own presentation even more shine. United Nations, General Assembly, comprised of all 193 members of the United Nations provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the United Nations chart. While making press statements and making speeches on various international issues, President Hassan speaks with charisma which is special spiritual power or personal quality that gives an individual influence or authority over large numbers of people. A charismatic speaker leaves an impression on the audience, large or small, that makes them want to come back for more. The president always self-confident and assured and never appear nervous or ill at ease. He feels himself being enjoying humorous, happy. He speaks lively & energetic and knowledgeable about his subject, look good, when he is on stage presence. Speak without stumbling, using full sentences and correct grammar, without “ers” and “uhs.. You can sense his emotion, enthusiasm, and conviction. Quality is never an accident. It is always the result of intelligent effort. The quality of a person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.

Being a good speaker requires planning, clarity of thought and a well constructed beginning, middle and end to your speech. It is important to avoid creating confusion or leaving your listeners feeling that you have wasted their time. Communication is very important. To learn how to be a great speaker is high priority work. Letting people understand what we talk about allows us to do our job more successfully. In making a speech one must study three points: first, the means of producing persuasion; second, the language; third the proper arrangement of the various parts of the speech. There are three principles in a man’s being and life, the principle of thought, the principle of speech, and the principle of action.  Rating procedure for speeches include intelligibility, pleasantness, loudness, effort, and total impression. In conclusion, President Hassan Mohamoud holds the leadership which is described as process of social influence   in which one person can enlist the aid and support  of others in the accomplishment of a common task and involving traits, situational interaction, function, behavior, power, vision, value, charisma and intelligence, among others. Such a trait enables leaders to be accepted well by the public, use diplomatic measures to solve issues, as well as hold the ability to adapt their social persona to the situation at hand. President Hassan has an exceptional example that embodies integrity, assertiveness, and social abilities in his diplomatic dealings with the leaders of the world. The president has developed strategic vision having worldwide experience developing tools to measure decision-making, human behavior, attitudes and perceptions and comprehensive theory of human behavior creates the most effective strategies addressing decision-making in product development and communications in the widest variety of fields of government policies. here is the president speech in summary. quote. The president has started his speech by quoting Mr. President, secretary general, his Excellency, members of the general assembly, it is pleasure to join here with in New York, united nations head quarters. To make laugh and the audiences, the president said that, while I was in New York, a journalist ask me to describe Somalia in 15 seconds. To answer this type of question appears to be difficult, however, I have to think carefully prior I should responds the journalist question. Normally Somalis as general great story tellers, however, the president said if you think a problem like, then Somalia had such as war, pricy, famine, terrorist groups, extremism, droughts and floods etc. But that was the Somalia in the past and not today. The president said that good of example of yesterday is the film acted by Captain Philips. Many classified as a failed state.  The Somalia which I am the president is not any more failed state, but could be delicate progressing daily and hours to stand on foot by own rapidly, as the crucial problem (Al-Shabib) is in ruins as a result of Somalia armed forces and the Amson forces from our African brotherly countries cooperation. No doubts these expressions from the president have draw the attention of the world leaders. The president has emphasized the issue of terrorism is not alone in Somalia and therefore require global cooperation to eliminate this from dilemma through the world.

Somalia is at a critical juncture in its efforts to achieve security and stability, the country’s President told the United Nations General Assembly calling for continued support to strengthen Somalia as a security and ideological “firewall.”Addressing the 69th high-level debate of the UN General Assembly, Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud said  that Somalia will meet the world’s aspirations for a better future, “We have a country that is beginning to unite as a nation, behind a vision that will see a federal and united Somalia in 2016..He noted that his Federal Government is taking concrete steps to engage all Somalis, including women and minority groups, in the political process of nation-building.“Our success requires the support of our international partners, but most of all it demands the ownership and commitment of the Somali people,” he said. The President’s address follows a high-level meeting on Somalia held earlier this week on the margins of the General Assembly’s opening high-level session. During the event, Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon noted that the Somali peace process is “gathering momentum” but warned that there is “much work still ahead” for the Horn of Africa country. Speaking on Wednesday, Mr. Ban voiced optimism that the country was on track to achieving political and national stability through the Somali Federal Government’s “Vision 2016” plan for a political transformation, to which Mr. Mohamoud alluded in his speech. In his address, the President also noted the humanitarian threat facing Somalia with around 3.2 million people in need of life-saving or livelihood saving aid.A $933 million humanitarian appeal for the country remains “severely underfunded” with only 32 per cent of the amount received. The president has ended his speech by thanking all the audiences.Unquote.

In the view of high standard of his speech, the same connect with the audience with interest. Apart of his expressions, his style of speaking and action has attracted the audiences, as that was unique type contrast with the speeches of the other world leaders.  To assess the quality of thoughts of people, don’t listen only to their words, but watch also their actions.Statements of ordinary people are ignored like poor freebies, statements of great people like president Hassan is accepted like profound philosophy. In conclusion, the president wrapped his speech and the same  has attracted the audiences beyond any level of consideration and left lasting  impression on the audience that influenced many  continue to think about his highly quality speech, being a role speech that meets Speech quality and speech intelligibility.
