Saudi Arabia to host a summit to discuss Trump’s proposal for the U.S. to take control of Gaza

Riyadh (QJ) – Saudi Arabia will host the leaders of four Arab countries for a summit on Thursday to discuss Trump’s proposal for the U.S. to take control of Gaza, sources familiar with the preparations told AFP.

The leaders of Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, and the UAE will attend the summit, which will take place before the Arab League meeting in Cairo the following week, where the same issue will be discussed.

Another source, speaking on condition of anonymity, confirmed that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas will also participate in the summit.

Trump sparked international outrage with his proposal that the U.S. “take over” Gaza and relocate over two million Palestinians from the war-ravaged territory, suggesting Egypt and Jordan as possible destinations.

Trump made this suggestion during Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to Washington, D.C.

Arab states, including Saudi Arabia, have strongly opposed any forced displacement of Palestinians, calling instead for the creation of a Palestinian state alongside Israel. This summit signals an unusual moment of unity among Arab nations in rejecting Trump’s controversial proposal.
