Puntland forces expand their operations against ISIS

BOSSASO (QJ) – Puntland forces expanded their operations into new areas, including the Qurac region of Togga Jaceel, where they discovered abandoned Daesh bases.

A statement from the Anti-Terror Operation Command stated: “The forces, advancing into new areas, conducted security operations in the Hararyo area of Togga Jaceel, extending their reach to the Qurac region, where they found terrorist bases abandoned.”

Second Deputy Commander of Puntland Police, Major General Osman Mahmoud Cige, reported that fleeing Daesh members were captured in parts of the Bari region as they attempted to escape ongoing clashes in the region’s mountainous areas.

The commander further noted that the group was attempting to flee toward neighboring countries and southern Somalia.

In late December 2024, Puntland declared a military offensive against the Almis-Kaad mountains in the Bari region, where Daesh had established strongholds.
