PM Abweli send his condolences to former Prime Minister Abdirisak Hajji Hussein

His Excellence the Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia sends his condolences to the family and friends of former Prime Minister Abdirisak Hajji Hussein who passed away last night.

The former Prime Minister Abdirisa Hajji Hussein served between 1964 and 1967 and was one of the leading Somali nationalists of 20th century.

The Prime Minister has appointed a committee to begin preparations for a national funeral; the committee will be chaired by Deputy Prime Minister H.E. Ridwan Hersi Mohamed.

The Prime Minister, said: “Today, we lost one of our greatest national servants and freedom fighters who dedicated his life to the people of the great nation of Somalia. I’m sending my condolence to his family and the Somali people, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

“He was a leading member of the freedom fighters of Somali Youth League and following independence became a committed public servant and politician who dedicated his life to the people and the Republic of Somalia. We must now take forward his legacy.”
