Our colleague and friend inspired
The Citizen reported on the death of Mohamoud Abdulle of Ottawa, who died tragically overseas while working for the Somali government. He was there in the hopes of restoring stability to his homeland.
Mohamoud was our colleague and friend at the Youth Services Bureau (YSB). He was a dedicated, thoughtful, and committed employee, who made a difference in the lives of countless young people whom he met through his work at YSB and his countless other volunteer activities in the community. His kind, gentle, and compassionate approach made it possible for the youth he worked with to succeed. He encouraged them to learn and to thrive, often in the most difficult of circumstances. So many youth looked to him as a role model. He told them that nothing is impossible. He wanted everyone to know that they have an important place in this world. Through his actions and words, he inspired us all.
Mohamoud leaves behind a large extended family, including his widow and six children. In addition to their grief, they will no doubt face challenges in the years to come. In his memory, a trust fund has been established. Visit www.ysb.ca
