Netanyahu’s speech to the U.S. Congress was boycotted

Washington July 25, 2024(QJ) -Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a speech delivered to the U.S. Congress yesterday, strongly defended the war his country is waging in Gaza. He vowed to continue the fight against Hamas until he achieves a decisive victory and returns the hostages from Gaza.

He condemned American protesters who have recently staged demonstrations at U.S. universities, calling them “useful idiots for Iran” and accusing them of aiding Israel’s enemies.

Netanyahu’s speech to the U.S. Congress was boycotted by about 60 members, mostly from the Democratic Party.

During the speech, protests were also taking place not far from the Capitol Hill Congress building, with thousands of people demonstrating against the war in Gaza.

Police used tear gas on some of the protesters who tried to march outside the Congress building but were denied access.

The protesters chanted slogans against Netanyahu and in support of Palestine, with messages such as “Free Palestine.” Since the beginning of Israel’s war in Gaza, nearly 40,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed.
