Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati Urges International Observers to Hold Israel Accountable
Beirut (QJ) – Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati stated that his country has sent a “clear message” to international observers regarding the ceasefire agreement, emphasizing that “Israeli violations must stop and Israel must completely withdraw from Lebanese-occupied territories.”
Mikati’s office said on Platform X that implementing UN Resolution 1701 is not only Lebanon’s responsibility but also depends on “the enemy, Israel.”
“We have also warned against continued violations of the ceasefire understanding because they jeopardize the entire agreement, which I do not believe anyone wants to see happen,” Mikati stated.
The United States, France, and the United Nations peacekeeping forces in Lebanon (UNIFIL) are monitoring the ceasefire.
However, since the agreement took effect in late November last year, both Israel and Lebanon have accused each other of violating the ceasefire.
