Jubaland State president holds talks with US special envoy to Somalia
NIAROBI– President of Jubaland State of Somalia, Ahmed Madobe today held talks with US special representative to Somalia, David Kaeuper in Nairobi, Kenyan capital.
The two sides discussed on issues pertaining to security and the fight against terrorism in the region.
Mr. Ahmed Madobe has appealed to David Kaeuper to assist Jubaland state when it comes to political and development projects in the state.
All of the issues touched during the hours discussion ended with common understanding.
The US gov’t pledged to assist provincial administerations in Somalia to move forward.
Somalia is a country in the Horn of Africa plagued by decades of violence, piracy and terrorism.
Somalia’s central gov’t led by deceased Gen. Mohamed Said Bare collapsed in 1991 after a popular uprising from emancipating movements.
Somalia then disintegarted into small states that formed the likes of Puntland, Jubaland, Galmudug, South east administeration.
At least 22, 000 forces from Kenya, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Burundi and Uganda are in Somalia under the banner of AMISOM against the fight of Al Shabab’s extremist group which wants to impose strict Sheria law in Somalia.
