Israel stops release of detainees

Gaza (QJ) – Israel’s decision to stop the release of detainees has sparked widespread anger, frustration, and a loss of confidence among Palestinian families. It reflects Israel’s ongoing violation of agreements.

Yesterday, relatives of hundreds of detainees gathered throughout the day at the European Hospital in Khan Younis, awaiting the arrival of their loved ones. Many broke down in tears and collapsed upon learning that Israel had canceled the planned extension of the truce.

Many told us they believe mediators will control the situation and that they still hold onto hope.

There have been numerous violations of the ceasefire by Israel, including its failure to deliver heavy machinery and mobile housing units as agreed. This is just the latest step in undermining the fragile agreement.

However, some Palestinians here believe the possibility of resuming the war in Gaza is very high.
