Israel hits over 180 sites in Lebanon

Beirut September 21, 2024(QJ)  -The Lebanese news agency NNA has reported that Israeli aircraft carried out a total of 111 airstrikes within one hour on Saturday.

Earlier, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) stated that they targeted up to 180 sites in southern Lebanon on Saturday. According to the IDF, nearly 90 artillery shells were fired from Lebanon into Israel.

The intensity of Saturday’s airstrikes is among the highest recorded since Hezbollah began launching rockets into northern Israel last year in support of Hamas during the Israel-Gaza conflict.

In late August, the Israeli military reported that approximately 100 fighter jets “struck and destroyed thousands of Hezbollah barrels” at over 40 locations in southern Lebanon within a single day.

Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati canceled his trip to the United Nations General Assembly following last week’s devastating attacks, which he described as a “horrific massacre.”

In a statement, Mikati explained that he canceled his trip “in light of developments related to Israeli aggression against Lebanon,” after Israel attacked southern Beirut neighborhoods and targeted Hezbollah facilities.

He emphasized that nothing is more important than stopping the “massacre” by Israel and its ongoing conflicts, calling on the international community to unite against these actions.
