INTERNATIONAL DONOR STRAINED LOCAL COUNCIL ELECTIONS OF SOMALILAND

(KampalaSDN)Long being waiting the exactly day of local elections of Somaliland, national elector commission announced the assigned scheduled day of the election, this article focus as academically democratic process of election, requirement of election system, challenges and opportunities of the election.
Until Somaliland separated from Somaliland this election will be the second free elections of local government apart from the other types of election which was occurred in Somaliland, this election more technical abstract the previous in terms of many dimension which is including the number of political parties are vary and wide comparing.
DEMOCRATIC ELECTION PROCESS (DIFFERENT APPROACHES OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT)
International donors want the election to be free and fair election mechanism on transparent, accountabilities and responsiveness therefore, international strained the discussion among the people involved the election whether they are the elector commission or government support function of elections
ü Elections must be free and fair in democratic action of transparent and rule of law and conscious (general agreement all the stakeholders and involvement)
ü Equal distance from the facilities of government used during the elections
ü Elector commission must be neutral among the competing of political parties
ü Provide civic engagement approach to the community in the public place and events for individuals and groups (this point is very comprehensive understand the terms and conditions of the elections in providing community orientation concerned the way people voting and the procedures of voting system)
ü Tally the actual number of voting in registering for the people voting in the elections
ü Elect the candidate but not elect the political as the system of election will not be proportional, but will be correspondent the number of vote obtained my each candidate
CHALLENGES AND APPORTUNTIES OF ELECTIOSN
This article forward some challenges and opportunities of election share with the academician intended in the area of democracy and political science especially voting techniques
§ The most critical issue of the election tally out count and registration methods for the voter
§ The number of political parts attend election are some many comparing out capacity in the election mechanisms (number of voter people are not so big therefore votes may be distributed into small group and some of the political parts may not get amount of votes)
§ The number of candidate are so many candidates approximately around 225 candidates among 25 seats, as every candidate has an number(#) for the ballot paper and it will be obstacle to the voters, but this is one way that commission and international donor agree to be fulfilled in this local council elections
APPORTUNTIES OF ELECTIOSN:
It has several opportunities which are
§ It will give an position to influence the international community to recognize the democratic system of Somaliland
§ Transparent way of power will be engaged and the international donor will trust Somaliland as new emergence country of horn of Africa
§ Foreign investment will be high and Somaliland get position for the world in terms of elections
