Hezbollah targets the Ashdod naval base in southern Israel

Beirut November 24, 2024(QJ) –  Hezbollah has claimed for the first time to have targeted the Ashdod naval base in southern Israel, stating that they carried out an operation against a “military target” in Tel Aviv using advanced missiles launched by drones.

The Israeli military did not immediately comment on this claim, but they had previously reported airstrikes in central and northern regions, including around Tel Aviv. The military mentioned intercepting several of the 55 rockets fired towards northern Israel, adding that “nearly 160 rockets fired by the terrorist organization Hezbollah crossed from Lebanon into Israel.”

These attacks injured at least 11 people, including a man in “moderate to serious” condition, according to health authorities.

This comes a day after Israel killed at least 29 people in an attack in central Beirut. At least 66 others were injured, according to Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health.

Lebanon’s interim Prime Minister Najib Mikati condemned the attack, calling it an assault on US-led ceasefire efforts, describing it as a “direct, bloody message rejecting all ongoing efforts and negotiations” to end the conflict.
