Hamas responds to the Arab League proposal

GAZA (QJ) – The armed wing of Hamas, the Qassam Brigades, has issued a statement expressing surprise at reports suggesting that Hossam Zaki, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League, proposed that Hamas relinquishing control of Gaza would serve the interests of the Palestinian people.

“We have demonstrated the highest level of responsibility in shaping political and administrative frameworks to manage the Gaza Strip during various negotiations, especially with our Egyptian brothers, with whom we have agreed to establish a national consensus government,” Hamas stated.

“We affirm that Hamas will continue to prioritize the supreme interests of the Palestinian people in all its decisions regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip post-war, within the framework of a national consensus and while avoiding any external interference, whether from occupation forces or the United States,” the statement added.

“We also call on the Arab League to support this position and not endorse any projects that threaten the national security system of the Arab world,” Hamas said.
