Former Rebel Leader joins Somaliland Cabinet

Hargeysa(SDN)-A Former head of a rebel group that opposed Somaliland government has joined the same administration he fought for years.

Dr Sulleyman Isse Ahmed better known as Haglotoosiye was the the head of the SSC rebel group that opposed the presence of Somaliland administration in the Sool,Sanaag and Ceyn regions of Somaliland.

The president of Somaliland Ahmed Mohamed Silanyo announced today the Mr Haglotoosiye will hold the Minter of  relocation portfolio.

The announcement came after long negotiations between the parties and is hailed by many as a step in the right direction.

Somaliland a former British Protectorate joined with Somalia after independence in 1960.

But after decades negated on the union after the fall of the Siad Bare’s regime,though the enclave made some strides towards peace building and democratization no state had recognized Somaliland yet.
