Ethiopian Prime Minister Supports Somalia’s Federalism

Addis Ababa, Sep 04, 2013 (SDN) -Ethiopian Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegnha said his country would support to build a federal state in the neighboring country of Somalia after meeting with  the president of Puntland, a region in Somalia.

A statement released after the meeting said, Ethiopian government would prefer a strong Somali federal state which is the only solution for the more than two decades crisis in the hon of Africa country.

“Building federal state in Somalia and allowing every two regions to join together and form their own administration will lead to a new and development oriented country and will eventually end the destruction in Somalia”. President of Puntland state Abdurahman Farole said.

On Tuesday president Farole and the Ethiopian Prime Minister  met at the prime minister’s office in Addis Ababa whereby the two men discussed issues on Somalia peace process.

The meeting came nearly a week after the federal government of Somalia and the interim administration in the Jubba region signed in Addis Ababa,a peace deal mediated by  the regional governments to end conflict in Kismayu.
