A 19-year-old Somali man had a groundbreaking surgery in India
Hyderabad (QJ) – A 19-year-old Somali man who lost his genital organ at the age of four due to a severe infection following circumcision has successfully regained a normal life after a groundbreaking surgery in Hyderabad, India.
Doctors from Medicover Hospitals, led by Dr. A.V. Ravikumar and Dr. Dasari Madhu Vinay Kumar, performed the first-ever procedure of this kind in the Telangana region. The 10-hour surgery involved tissue reconstruction using cells from the patient’s hand, restoring full sensation and normal urinary function. A penile implant was also placed to support a normal sexual life.
The patient expressed his happiness and relief, saying that he had lived with distress for many years but now feels whole, confident, and ready to lead a normal life.
