Support from Somalia to Turkish PM regarding Taksim Gezi Park
Mogadishu, Jun 21 2013 (SDN) –Mogadishu – Somali Students Unity organized Thursday a rally in the capital Mogadishu to support Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan upon Taksim Gezi Park protests. Demonstrators carried Turkish flags and Erdogan’s posters, where they chanted slogans about Erdogan government’s economical and political support to Somalia.
Turkey whose prime minister is Recep Tayyip Erdogan has done a lot for Somalia and stood by in its penury days, head of the unity, Mohamed Abdullah, told AA in an exclusive interview.
Abdullah underlined Turkey played an important role amongst Muslim countries and expressed his sadness over the protests in Turkey.
“Erdogan not only conduced to recover his own country’s economy but also helped other countries much, especially Somalia. It is heartbreaking to see such kinds of protests in Turkey,” Abdullah said.
Amina Omar, one of the demonstrators in Somalia, stated that “Erdogan, who bore a hand to Somalia and others in need, does not deserve them,” calling on Turkish society to stand up for Erdogan.
Turkey has become a power in the region which can’t be underestimated and there are enemies behind the protests who don’t want the rise of Islam, Omar added.
