Minister Haglatosiye Dismisses Resignation Rumors

Hargeisa May 12, 2013 (SDN) –Somaliland’s minister of rehabilitation and reconstruction Mr. Sulaiman Haglatosiye has denied media speculations about his imminent resignation over problems with president Silanyo’s administration. Haglatosiye responded Today to media claims by Saying “Of course, not!” while speaking to the press at Egal international airport here in Hargeisa. On his arrival from Djibouti today after meeting Djibouti authorities over the plight of Somaliland refugees in Djibouti, he said, “I have not resigned, it’s a rumour and the media reports of my imminent resignation is totally baseless.” Some media reports have earlier in this week said that the minister was considering announcing his resignation shortly after his return from Djibouti Trip. The minister also briefed his trip to Djibouti where he met with Djibouti refugee officials about the return of Somaliland refugees in Djibouti. Minister Haglatosiye was warmly received at Egal International Airport in Hargeisa by government officials such as president Silanyo’s advisor on eastern regions Mr. Ali Hassan Mohamed known as Ali Sandule. Haglatosiye was a Commander of an armed militia in Sool region known as SCC before his appointment of his current post in August last year. The appointment of Haglatosiye as a minister of rehabilitation in August last year came after an agreement was signed by President Silanyo and Hagaltosie in July last year. Earlier this year there was also widespread speculation that president Silanyo was favoring minister Haglatosiye as his second vice-president. These speculations came after president Silanyo addressed to the joint session of the Somaliland bicameral parliament where President Silanyo proposed a change to the constitution to allow for the creation of a second vice-presidential spot in Somaliland.
