Officers Killed in Explosion in Southern Somalia
Baydhabo (SDN) -Reports of an attack on government forces are emerging from the city of Baydhabo in the region of Bay.
Hand grenades were thrown at the Khat market in the city of Baydhabo a few hours ago according to witnesses.
Residents of the town said the attack targeted members of the transitional federal government’s armed forces who were at the market, several government officers are dead although the exact number is unconfirmed.
Baydhabo’s Police Chief Aadan Biid declined to comment on the incident saying he is busy conducting an investigation into today’s events.
A witness told us “the explosion was extremely loud and could be heard from a distance, officers arrived at the scene but since then things have become quiet”.
