UNRWA Aid trucks looted in Southern Gaza

Gaza November 23, 2024(QJ) On Saturday, nearly a hundred trucks carrying food supplies for UNRWA and the World Food Programme were looted in southern Gaza, with 97 trucks “lost” in the incident.

The drivers were forced to unload the trucks, and aid workers were injured, with significant damage to the vehicles.

UNRWA blamed the “breakdown of law and order” and Israel’s “administration style” for creating a dangerous environment. The challenges of delivering aid to Gaza have become increasingly difficult, with frequent looting and attacks.

The US State Department also blamed the general collapse of Gaza’s security, partially attributing it to the Israeli Defense Forces. Gaza’s security forces reportedly killed over 20 looters involved in the incident, as confirmed by the Gaza Ministry of Interior and Hamas-run Al-Aqsa TV. The National and Islamic Forces coalition praised the ministry’s actions against the looters.
