US Vetoes United Nations Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza war
NY November 20, 2024(QJ)The United States has vetoed a United Nations Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Israel-Gaza war, accusing the other 14 council members of dismissively rejecting efforts to reach a middle ground.
Majed Bamya, the Deputy Palestinian Ambassador to the United Nations, stated that Israel’s deadly attacks on Gaza have no connection to the Israeli hostages held there.
A ceasefire, he emphasized, would save “all lives” of those trapped, as he addressed the Security Council following the latest vote on the Gaza ceasefire resolution.
Bamya expressed grave concern over the dire humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where starvation is rampant and has already become “a reality in northern Gaza,” he said.
“The world must not normalize the deaths of Palestinians or view starving Palestinian children as acceptable,” Bamya added.
