ATMIS and SNA carry out an operation in Mahaday district
Mogadishu July 29, 2024(QJ) -The Somali National Army, along with the Burundian contingent of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS), conducted a joint operation in the Mahadaay district of the Middle Shabelle region.
The objective of the operation was to secure the area and ensure safety. The joint forces carried out the operation in the southeastern villages of Mahadaay, where Al-Shabaab militants occasionally operate.
The operation was led by Lieutenant Colonel Désiré Habyarimana of ATMIS’s 73rd Battalion and Lieutenant Adam Abubakar of the Somali National Army.
While the specific outcomes of the operation were not disclosed, the commanders committed to continuing efforts to eliminate the threat posed by Al-Shabaab to the peace and stability of the region.
