11 killed by rockets in Golan Heights

Tel Aviv July 27, 2024(QJ)-At least 11 people were killed when several rockets struck a village in the Golan Heights on Saturday, in what Israel described as the deadliest attack since October 7.

Israel said it identified “nearly 30 shells” crossing from Lebanon into Israeli territory and accused the Iran-backed Hezbollah group in Lebanon. Hezbollah denied the accusation, stating it “strongly denies” firing the rockets.

At least 29 people were injured in the attack, which occurred in Majdal Shams, a village in the northern Golan Heights controlled by Israel and home to a large Druze community.

The attack sites included a soccer field where young people were playing, said Israel Defense Forces (IDF) spokesperson Daniel Hagari.
