Inidan Navy rescues Hijacked cargo ship off the coast of Somalia
Delhi January 06, 2024 (QJ) -The spokesperson of the Indian Navy released a statement indicating that they rescued all the personnel on board the vessel MV LILA NORFOLK, which was hijacked off the coast of Somalia last night.
It was mentioned that 22 crew members were on board, including 17 Indians and 5 Filipinos.
The spokesperson also confirmed that the Navy had taken control of the vessel, which a group of pirates had forcefully boarded.
INS Chennai, the Indian warship, was reported to have provided support to the hijacked vessel to thwart the pirates and secure the safety of the crew and the ship.
Earlier reports had indicated that up to six armed pirates had taken control of the vessel, there was no evidence of casualties on the ship.
